Australia Struggles to Deal with Visas to Import Middle East Teen Brides

Hundreds of 17-year-old girls have been brought to Australia to get married under a government visa program.

Figures show that more than two hundred 17-year-old girls were granted prospective spouse visas over the past five years – a figure child safety campaigners branded as shocking.

Hundreds more 18-, 19-, and 20-year-old women also received the visas after being sponsored by older men. The majority of the teenagers were from the Middle East or Southeast Asian countries.

Palestinian Arrested over Ramot Stabbing

The Jerusalem police have arrested Abed al-Rahman, (pictured top) a 20-year-old man from the Palestinian village of Beit Iksa suspected of being the one behind the incident in which 17-year-old Yehuda Ne’emad (pictured bottom) was stabbed two weeks ago. The suspect has admitted to the charges against him and reenacted the event.

The arrest took place three days ago following a joint Shin Bet, police and IDF operation. The Jerusalem Police Minority Division was responsible for the arrest.

Community, religious and education centre could be built on the site of a former garage.

The three-storey centre would be used by Dar-us-Salaam, a Sneinton-based organization which works mainly with the Muslim community.

In Nigeria, more than 100 people are thought to have been killed in a wave of gun and bomb attacks claimed by radical Islamists.

Sex offender Mohammed Eagle has been jailed for 16 years after repeatedly raping and indecently assaulting a young girl in a series of “grave and appalling” offences.

He caused her “humiliation and degradation” and forced her to commit sex acts with him, a court heard.

At least six people including one policeman were killed in a suicide blast near a mosque in Afghanistan Sunday, the first day of the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha, police said.
