An electrician is accused of threatening to kill a Filipina waitress for turning down his marriage proposal.
The 33-year-old old posted his intention on Facebook and asked FB users to recommend ways on how to kill his former lover and ex-colleague.
He is also accused of sending threatening SMS on the victim’s phone, which forced her to change her mobile number, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
The 24-year-old victim testified that she and the accused were working for the same hotel in Abu Dhabi, and were in a relationship for almost a year. During which time he proposed to her and she turned him down.
Meanwhile, she was transferred to Dubai and he continued to ‘harass’ her by sending threatening messages on her mobile.
She added that she had to change her phone number to evade him. Later, she learnt from a friend that he had posted a line of Facebook stating that he wanted to kill her and asking users to help him find ways to do it.
She checked the Facebook page and decided to file a complaint, she told the court.
Meanwhile, the accused said he had lent her Dh1, 000 (USD 272) while they worked together, which she has not yet repaid. And that she was ignoring his calls. However, he admitted to posting his intention on his Facebook page.
