A suicide attack on a minibus in the Afghan capital killed 12 people on Tuesday, including seven foreigners, and the Hezb-e-Islami insurgent group claimed responsibility, saying the blast was retaliation for a film mocking the Prophet Mohammad.

The Central Fire Protection District has sold its property at 900 17th Ave. next to the fire station to the Islamic Center of Santa Cruz for $435,000.
“They’re happy, we’re happy,” said Fire Chief Jeff Maxwell. “We met the group. They’re very nice. They’re working on a use permit.”
