The student, studying for his Masters’ degree at a local university, allegedly posted his insults in July.
However, a man lodged a police report about the posting an hour after the suspect’s house and car were vandalized on Tuesday night.
It is learnt the suspect, as well as his parents and three siblings, were at a relative’s house at the time of the incident.
However, the police returned to the house in Taman Klang Jaya here and arrested the student and seized a laptop at about noon yesterday.
“At about midnight, the suspect lodged a report that his Facebook account had been hacked and that he had lost his laptop in June,” said South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Mat Yusop (pictured).
He said police were looking for the group that had allegedly attacked the suspect’s house, adding that five reports on the postings had also been received.
“We have recorded statements from three people with regard to the attack,” he told a press conference here.
ACP Mohamad said police received a call at about 10pm that vandals had struck at the suspect’s house.
“About an hour later, we received a report from a man that he was angry with the posting he had read that evening.”
Describing the case as “sensitive”, ACP Mohamad urged the public to stay calm and let the police complete their investigation.
A check on the suspect’s Facebook account showed the posting had been removed and an apology had been posted.
There was also an explanation that the Facebook account had been logged on at various locations and this might have led to it being hacked.
