The United Muslim Christian Forum, a friendly-sounding “interfaith” group issued a press release on September 18 demanding the prosecution of the makers of the low-quality Innocence of Muslims film that appeared on YouTube. The national intelligence agency PET was directly involved in the hunt for one of the world’s most wanted terrorist leaders – al-Qaeda’s Anwar al-Awlaki – before he was killed in a US drone attack in September of last year.

There is no Islam that belongs to France, far-right National Front (FN) leader Marine Le Pen said yesterday in response to comments to the contrary from Interior Minister Manuel Valls, daily Le Monde reported.

Gunmen opened fire on the home of a Coptic Christian in the Sinai Peninsula, hours after a visit by President Mohamed Morsi to reassure Christian residents they would not be targeted again.
Gunmen “used automatic weapons when they opened fire on the house of a Coptic resident of Rafah hours after the president left,” a security official told AFP.

Up to 2,000 people gathered in St George’s Square in the town centre to campaign against a controversial film that has sparked violent protests around the world.
Kirklees Imams and Mosques Advisory Board had organised the ‘Peace Rally’ in St George’s Square which was held at noon on Saturday.

Work has started on the demolition of a Preston mosque as trustees prepare to award a contract to build a new facility.
Demolition crews began stripping out the interior of the Masjid-e-Salaam on Watling Street Road, Fulwood, last week and work has now begun on removing the roof of the building.
It is understood the Preston Muslim Society has agreed to hand the contract to build a new modern mosque to an unnamed local building firm.

The Boko Haram militants were killed during a gun battle in northeastern Yobe state.
“About 30 suspected Boko Haram terrorists were killed in the battle which lasted several hours,” army spokesman Lieutenant Eli Lazarus said in a statement.
“In the battle, the notorious, one-eyed Bakaka, the field commander of Boko Haram in Damaturu and a close associate of Abubakar Shekau, was killed,” he added.

Terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip fired some 40 mortar shells at southern Israel early Monday morning. The shells landed in communities in the Eshkol Regional Council. There were no reports of injuries, although one building was lightly damaged.
