The Muslim community group Profetens Ummah (?The Prophet?s Ummah?) is open to letting Muslim youngsters in Norway travel to Syria to participate in the war.
The group’s spokesperson in Norway, Ubaydullah Hussain, tells the newspaper VG that they have already helped several Norwegian Muslims travel to Syria to take part in the war.
Hussain does not think it’s problematic that people under 18 years of age do the same, and says that Islam considers people adults once they reach puberty.
Meanwhile, the Norwegian Security Police (PST) stated Wednesday that they are concerned about the Norwegians who participate in the war in Syria. According to Department head Jan Glent, the PST worries that Norwegian extremist warriors may come back as “ticking bombs.”
He emphasizes that Norwegian citizens may still be charged with war crime, no matter whether they join the opposition or support Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
The PST has not yet taken a stand on whether the riots in Syria legitimate or not, Glent informs.
