The publisher of an online “DIY jihad” terrorist manual has lost an appeal for the reduction of his 12-year jail sentence.

Belal Saadallah Khazaal had his conviction for compiling terrorist material quashed in 2011 by a court in New South Wales, Australia.

But it was reinstated last August by Australia’s High Court, and he was sent back to prison.

Live cattle exports to Egypt have been suspended indefinitely after shocking footage emerged showing the inhumane treatment of Australian animals.

Australian Livestock Exporters’ Council CEO Alison Penfold confirmed the voluntary suspension by the industry and said she was ”distraught” by footage shown to her of malpractice in Egyptian abattoirs.

”These acts are horrific,” Ms Penfold said in a statement.

”The outrageous cruelty has left me and my industry colleagues disgusted and horrified.”

Australia’s biggest mosque has backed away from its fatwa against Christmas after harsh criticism and a tirade of racial abuse.

The Lakemba Mosque posted the religious ruling on its Facebook site on Saturday morning, warning followers it was a ”sin” even to wish people a Merry Christmas.

Safaa Allami, 22, is accused of attempting to murder his older brother Ali Allami during a row at their Cloverdale home in Perth’s eastern suburbs.

Ali Allami was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, prosecutor Nicholas Cogin said.

It is claimed he was stabbed seven times in the chest, back and flank, suffering a pierced liver and kidney that could have cost him his life.

Two suspected Muslim extremists have been arrested at a mosque in Sydney’s south after threats were allegedly made against worshippers.

Police say two men are in custody after an operation at the mosque in Arncliffe, in Sydney’s south, on Sunday afternoon.

They said one man was removed from the mosque around 1.15pm by “members of the congregation” before being arrested by police stationed outside.

Another man was arrested outside the mosque, police said.
